In 2008 Polly entered politics in South Carolina and ran for the State Senate seat from District One. That same year, Ed Rumsey ran for the State House seat in District Two. While Polly ran on the Constitution Party platform, Ed challenged the Republican incumbent in the primary. After the election, the two realized that their goals in entering the political arena were similar and almost identical, when comparing standing on issues facing South Carolinians and our nation. Since that time both have been active in forming a grass roots organization designed to better inform the people of South Carolina about the many issues and as to the need for more involvement in the political process. Initial focus has been on School Choice but the other issues, which are listed in the other sections of this site, are just as important and will be addressed along with school choice. After a few meetings, Polly and Ed decided to form a small group of conservative citizens in Oconee County to work together in informing and activating the electorate about the issues and actions being taken in government.

"Conservatives Taking Back America" was formed by a group of concerned citizens who believed after the 2008 Presidential Election, that our government was leading this great nation to a socialist state, ignoring the conservative principles upon which it was founded. Not only were the ideas of free enterprise being discarded but the Judeo-Christian moral values of our founding fathers were being rejected. This group exists to rally the American public by making it aware of the threat and encouraging "we the people" to save the freedoms which we have, by bringing God back into our government, our schools, and our way of life.
